A little snow didn’t bother THIS crowd - they traipsed right outdoors in heels/dresses and had a blast doing it. 100% my kind of bridesmaids!

Capitol Reef was definitely a highlight of our Uta Capitol Reef was definitely a highlight of our Utah trip last summer. 🧡✨
•
Measuring 240,000 acres, it’s roughly the size of the city of San Diego... but with WAY less roads. And instead of being home to 1.4 million people, the park is home to 70 species of mammals (including the American beaver; which is very rare in the desert!) and over 220 species of birds.
•
We didn’t get to spend much time seeing the “wilderness” side of Capitol Reef (there are MILES of backcountry roads to explore!), but we did get to see a bunch of gorgeous red rocks and drive through a river... and that was prettyyyyyy cool.
•
Next time, we’re definitely taking the backcountry loop - a road that crosses miles of unpaved sand and rocks - and I’m crossing my fingers that we can camp out there. How awesome does it sound to be MILES away from everyone under a star-soaked sky right now?! 🌟
•
Have you ever been to Capitol Reef National Park? If not... put it on your bucket list RIGHT NOW. 👇🏼

Hello... Narnia?? ❤️❄️ Oh sorry, it’s yo Hello... Narnia?? ❤️❄️ Oh sorry, it’s you, Idaho. Got confused for a moment.
•
Would you believe me if I said ALL that snow fell in one day... and now it’s all melted. I’m not a “snow person” but once we’ve been through the trouble of cleaning off the roads, I don’t mind a little bit of postcard-worthy winter to look at, so I’m kind of missing the snow. This is a new sensation for me... as Phoebe would say, “what is up with the universe?!” (in more ways than one....)

WHEN HIRING A PHOTOGRAPHER, consider... • 𝟏 - WHEN HIRING A PHOTOGRAPHER, consider...
•
𝟏 - 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐢𝐫 𝐬𝐭𝐲𝐥𝐞/𝐚𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐜:
What sort of “feels” does their work give you? Bright, moody, elegant, casual, playful, traditional... the words you use to describe their style will be the way you’ll get to describe YOUR photos! So if you’re super laid-back and want casual, playful photos, you won’t want a photographer who takes very posed, fine-art photographs.
ALSO: hire a photographer who specializes in what you want!! You don’t want a sports photographer shooting photos do your newborn baby (unless... of course... you do?).
•
𝟐 - 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐢𝐫 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐟𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐞𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞:
While *years* of experience aren’t always necessary, know what your photographer is bringing to the table. There is NOTHING wrong with hiring a talented-but-inexperienced photographer, but the price tag should definitely be different than what a longtime professional can offer.
•
𝟑 - 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐢𝐫 𝐜𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐞𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞:
What do they offer their clients: the kind of shoot/products that you need?
Do past reviews speak highly of how they made their clients feel - and how they delivered on their promises?
•
𝟒 - 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐢𝐫 𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞 + 𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐭-𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐭 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐜𝐞𝐝𝐮𝐫𝐞:
If you have a timeline (i.e., you need Christmas pictures or photos for a yearbook), make sure to communicate that to your photographer! Editing is a solid 85-90% of the work we do as photographers and we all know how long it takes us to get the work done, so don’t hesitate to ask (timelines should also be in your contract).
Also: how will they be delivering photos? Do they deliver *all* the images, or do you have to purchase downloads? Is there an option to buy prints?
•
PROFESSIONAL 📷 FRIENDS: what else would you add?

2021 ✨🍾🗓 this year I’m filling my planne 2021 ✨🍾🗓 this year I’m filling my planner with a little extra JESUS (a little extra Jesus is never a bad idea 🙊), BUT I need your help!
•
Comment your favorite Bible verse below — I’m adding someone’s favorite verse to each of the 52 weeks in my calendar so I can study them along with my other devotions. And then, during that week, I’ll be praying for YOU. 💕
•
Also let me know if you want a specific week (a birthday, an anniversary, a favorite holiday... or even a day/week that’s difficult for you) and I’ll put your verse + prayers near there. ✨

It’s NYE 2020. Everyone breathes a sigh of relief whilst wishing good riddance to the back end of a very difficult year.
And yes; while I’m glad to turn the page over to 2021, I can’t help but look back over 2020 and just rejoice in the incredible faithfulness of our God. 💕
You might dismiss the gratefulness I have for this year… “you were just lucky.”
But I know that it’s not just luck that led us through these months. I know that God provided for us (never even ran out of TP ✌🏼), blessed us immeasurably, brought us closer together, healed us + kept our families safe, and was nothing short of His wonderful, gracious Self. ✨
It’s not to say that God won’t let difficult things happen to us in the future; He will. But only to show — in ever greater relief — that He is sovereign. That despite the times we think are not good, He faithfully shows us that HE is good.
♥
God brought this verse (Psalm 119:165) to me to meditate on today, and I wanted to share a little of what He’s shown me through it as I studied... because I think it helps explain why I didn’t hate 2020. 🙊
♥
Modern versions translate the last part of this verse “…nothing causes them to stumble.” But the KJV is what I memorized, and when God wouldn’t stop bringing this verse to mind, I did a mini-study on what the word “offend” means.
OFFEND (verb)
1. cause to feel upset, annoyed, or resentful.
2. to break a law or rule; to do something against your principles
Hebrewמִכְשֽׁוֹל ׃ - translated elsewhere in Scripture as “a troubled heart” or “an obstacle” (1 Sam 25:31, Isaiah 57:14)
♥
I often use modern translations on the Bible while studying, but for this one, I think I’ll stick to the KJV, because I *love* that. To those of us who have made a life out of loving Him and His Word (his “Law” if you will), NOTHING can “trouble our hearts.” 💕
We know the one Who is faithful; no matter what.
Even is 2021 is just a repeat of 2020 (🙄)... the good news is that God is still God, and He — loving, faithful, and full of mercy — DOESN’T CHANGE (1 Thess. 5:24; Hebrews 13:8).
