My mom and I both have this thing. You see… this thing is that we like adventure.
I definitely got it from both of my parents, though.
I can’t tell you how many memories I have to camping trips with my Dad. Camping trips turned into “adventures” – several of which included ignoring “no trespassing” signs, or finding “critters” on the trail, driving on closed roads… you know. And food. Dad’s adventures always included food.

But Mom loves adventure, too. How many times was something turned into a “field trip” (I loved being homeschooled). Grocery shopping was even an adventure. And Mom thinks nothing of hopping in the car for the day just to drive or explore or find something new.

I’m so glad I inherited that from her. Just sayin’. It comes in handy for a photog.

So a few days ago, she came up with a scheme… and it included, well, nothing. Just driving. Exploring, you know. We could talk, drive, listen to music, take pictures of stuff.

So of course (duh) I was all over it. A sunny morning, skittering around the county just shooting stuff? Sure!

We found cows and cows and cows and cows. And since we see a lot of cows and cows and cows every day (plus it would be weird in many circumstances for me to just get out and take pictures of our neighbor’s cows… right). I didn’t. (not too many, anyway)

Sad little house. I really wanted to go in. But it quite obviously belonged to someone else’s… cows. So we didn’t trespass.
(it was hard.)

The sun kinda disappeared and reappeared on and off throughout the morning.

Ah yes. Only in Stevens County do… deer skulls… ornament fence posts.
Never mind – they probably do this in some backwoods Texas place too.

Ummm… there are plenty of abandoned buildings around here.

Don’t worry, there was nothing coming. Duh.

Pretty much as ghetto as our town gets.

This is it, guys. The busiest intersection in town.

Food! Didn’t I say adventures in my family always included food?
Mango iced tea and a granola muncy-thing from my favorite coffee shop this side of the Mississippi.

The new Ace Hardware garden center was just calling my name, so naturally we had to get out and explore.
..

And we couldn’t leave without a little something… green thumb. Ya know.

Normally I only see this road covered in snow, because most people don’t drive up to ski hills in the summertime. It’s kinda hard to snowboard on grass. But I’ve heard it’s pretty good hiking. Hmmmm… another adventure?!

Before you absolutely freak out… YES, that is a photographer hanging out of a car window.

But the car was stopped – I’m not that desperate!
..

Besides, this view was worth it.
(and I wasn’t really into standing on TOP of the car… so sitting in the window worked just as well, eh?)

At the end of a winding dirt road… no service. Well! That’s not surprising. It’s hard enough to get a signal anywhere in these mountains!

And our morning ended with a bang (literally).
It was awesome… because it was an adventure!!

Oh my gosh. I want to live there, wherever that is. I love every picture so amazing! I love all the different angles you use and just ahh all of it is so beautiful.
