“Humility is the mother of giants.
One sees great things from the valley;
only small things from the peak.”

I read that quote in the She Reads Truth devotional a few days ago, and it’s been in my heart ever since. See… we get it mixed up. We think that we can only do or only see great things on “the mountain.”
Oh, that elusive mountain – how am I supposed to know I’m even up on a “mountain,” anyway? Regardless, we assume that God can only use us in our triumphs, that He can only make the sun shine on the peak.
I don’t know about you… but my God is bigger than that. My God can make beautiful things happen in our valleys – sometimes, He can show us more of Himself when the view is limited to what’s right in front of us than when we can see the whole view spread out in front of us.
So, yes! Go conquer your mountain if that’s what’s calling you.
But don’t forget to open your eyes and enjoy the journey.
thank you for sharing, hannah!
Ah, yes. This is so beautiful, and so, so true. God uses our failures as well as our triumphs to bring us closer to where He wants us to be… and that is where we desire to be, whether we know it or not. What a great God we serve. <3 xox
AMEN, my girl!! =) He IS great.
