Virginia Church Wedding [Kaitlin & Justin]
I hadn’t been to Washington DC since I was mayyybe two years old. Needless to say, I didn’t remember a thing. When I went back to shoot Kaitlin and Justin’s wedding in July, I was blown away.
Maybe you live in Washington DC, and you’re not as enraptured with the city as I am… but you should be. There’s so. much. history. So many gorgeous buildings. After the ceremony and reception, this brave bride and groom made the trek from Fairfax to the monuments for some incredible portrait locations. It was steaming hot (I never realized how humid the DC area could be until I shot a July afternoon wedding!), but they braved the heat, and the stares of hundreds of strangers, like total champs.
The post-wedding portrait session was a highlight of the day, for sure; but there were so many other charming details that made this day gorgeous. Plus, they got married in the church where they met. How romantic is that??
That fluffy princess gown. A TIARA.
Personalized details — like her police-themed garter and his tiny cop-car cufflinks.
Rings engraved with “their song” lyrics.
Sibling-musicians (seriously, they covered the live music like bosses).
A PURPLE wedding cake (yeah, that was right up my alley). And sparkly cupcakes.
A short bride and big black truck.
All the details added up to the most elegant, sweet day they could have ever dreamed up. And topping it off by shooting in downtown DC? Definitely an experience I won’t soon forget.
Kaitlin and Justin; next time I’m in DC, I can’t wait to catch up!! And learn more cool facts and let you do all the talking with the awkward Uber drivers and stuff.
