*warning* – TONS of pictures ahead. Because this shoot is HIGH on my list of favorite shoots for 2013. In fact… it’s pretty much at the top of my “favorite shoots EVER.” You’ll see why in just a moment.
.
This, ladies and gentlemen, is Anna. I don’t even remember when I first met this girl. It’s a small town, small county – it was probably a few years ago.
.
Recently, my family started going to her dad’s church, and we’ve become great friends since.
.
.
We got to shoot a little over my winter break: you might remember my post about it. But this girl is going to be GRADUATING in the spring – bring on the senior pictures, baby!!
.
.
In my last post, I talked about how Anna and I have bonded over a mutual love of photography, coffee, and salted caramel ANYTHING. Even though she shoots Nikon, she’s definitely on my kindred spirits list.
Not that I keep a real “list.” 😉
.
.
I love these two shots – Anna’s channeling her inner 50s-lady-pilot-model look. I mean… seriously?!
.
.
It’s great to have someone with connections… Anna knew she wanted to shoot in this field, so she called up the guy who owns it (she babysits for his kids) and got permission. A few minutes before we headed out, he asked if we wanted hay bales to shoot with – so his father-in-law broke out the tractor and voila!! Fresh hay, baled as we shot.
Perfect.
..
I couldn’t HELP myself, Anna, dear… I just *had* to put up a few of your manymanymany faces.
.
.
After shooting around in that beautiful hay field, we struck out for a little bit of trespassing. I mean… “borrowing” the wheat field across from the highway. If there’s no one around to ask… what’s a girl to do?
.
.
I was kind of glad there was no one to ask, because then there was the chance of them saying no (which has never happened to me, actually…) and then… we wouldn’t have had that LIGHT.
.
.
I probably said it a million times while I shot. “Ahh!! Gorgeous! The light. The light! I love it.”
.
.
I was seriously… seriously serious.
In a little bit of heaven. A LOT OF HEAVEN.
..
..
Anna is a pretty amazing photographer herself, so she was completely understanding of my ecstasies. It usually makes me nervous, shooting portraits of another photographer – but not with this girl. It’s such a blast because we can pretty much read each others’ minds.
..
..
The “do this, do that, do the other thing” that I dish out to “normal” people isn’t quite as unusual to Anna – because we both spend soooo much time stalking other photographers and studying what works. And hey… it works!!
..
..
Whoaaa yes.
Now it’s gotta be a little obvious as to why this is one of my favorite shoots in the history of photography.
..
..
No. 1 – gorgeous dress (c’mon, it matches *perfectly* – and she found it at a thrift store because that’s just the kind of wow she is)
.
.
No. 2 – beautiful model – she curled her own hair, and gosh. Those eyes.
No. 3 – dreamy light.
You probably already knew that I love it, right? Right.
..
And the rest of the reasons include stuff like this girl’s personality, waist-deep wheat, the perfect amount of wind, and the sweet filmish edit I used this time.
..
..
I rarely shoot with the sun at my back, so this was a *little* bit of a challenge. But I’m patting myself on the back right now, because if Anna decides to skip college and become a country singer, I’m crossing my fingers that these will end up on the cover of her debut album. Oh yeah.
.
.
I’ve also got to say I live in the most stunning place. Purple mountains majesty, uh-huh. They’re real.
Annnnna girl. It was SO MUCH FUN. It’s almost funny that I’m thanking you for letting me shoot your portraits, but… yes. It was a highlight of my summer. I’m so grateful for your friendship and the encouragement you are to me. I’m excited for what the Lord has in store as you finish up high school and head off to college. I know His plans for you are HUGE, and I’m going to miss you so much!! Until Christmas!
xoxo, Hannah
